This is part 1 of 4 stop motion shorts my daughter did for fun. I thought they were cute and funny and think you will enjoy. Plus it is only 7 seconds. Watch out for those rats!

Kid Kitchen Cleanup
My daughter was tasked with cleaning the WHOLE kitchen for the first time ever last week. She didn't speak 5 words to me the rest of the night but she did an amazing job. With the exception of putting all the dishes away in the dishwasher - before it had been run.... well, she did great.
She is still too innocent to know not to do such a great job unless you want to keep doing that job. Well, she now has a new chore. LOL.
But the funniest thing was when she came home from school and it was no longer neat she was like 'what happened? I just cleaned up the whole kitchen last night. Where'd all this stuff come from?'.
Maybe now she'll have some appreciation for what we parents do everyday that lasts half a day before starting over. It was funny though. The look on her face was priceless.

Destination - Miramar Beach
Discovered April 2013 - Embassy Suites Miramar Beach

See my post about our stay here for a few more details on how I discovered this gem. The best things about this hotel for my family was the location and layout. It sits right across the street from the beach - but with direct beach access. There is a beach store next door, and of course the breakfast included. The omelette chef there when we stayed was great. They even have their dining and a menu available for lunch and dinner so you don't have to leave the hotel to scour for food. We ate their both nights trying to keep life simple.
The hotel has all the rooms open to the center so you can see almost the entire lobby from your door, practically.
While we did choose to dine here for both nights, the service is painfully slow. Don't expect to be in and out quickly since the wait staff seemed to include one waiter/waitress and 2 runners/bussers. But at least the food was pretty good. The quesadillas are great and plentiful. Skip the calamari unless you know you can get them hot.
There is an outdoor pool adjacent to the hotel but you have to go outside and then back through a gate to get in. It isn't very large and is pretty much a rectangle but the kids had fun in it. When you have a beach that close, I guess you don't sink your money into a hole in the ground.
And of course this is in the gulf area so the beaches are great. White sugar sand that is smooth and feels good between the toes. We rented beach umbrellas and chairs and they even offered half day rates if you got it after noon or planned on leaving before noon.
The manager's reception is pretty good. Free drinks - including bar drinks and beer, and some light snacks like popcorn, chips, dip. My sex on the beach both nights was tasty. My daughter got a Shirley Temple she enjoyed as well.
We often seek out Embassy Suites and now this place is on our list for driveable destinations from Atlanta.
If you check it out, let me know what you thought - add your comments.

DESTINation - Beach Therapy
On a sort of last minute whim, my husband and I decided to take a two night trip south to the gulf shores of Miramar beach right before Destin, Florida.
We piled the house into our mid-sized SUV, while promising to get a roof rack before our next trip, and started the 6 plus hour drive to the start of sand in our toes, and other unseen places.

My daughter had a blast. The hotel we chose (and I almost don't want to give it up, because it is a gem) was the Embassy Suites in Miramar and because it is an Embassy Suites, plenty of families with kids were there. My daughter had her choice of playmates and the hotel design made it possible for her and the other pre-teeners/tweeners to hang out in the lobby or on the floors and we could peak out our door, look over the balcony and check on them. Thankfully she hasn't gotten to the 'mom, you're embarrassing me' phase....yet.
My son enjoyed the sand and little shovels. Though he preferred to bring the sand to our beach mat, taste test it, and try to put it in our hair, he was beach happy.
The weather was fine for laying out (uh, no this momma did NOT get in the water!) and enjoying the natural beach therapy. Nothing like an ocean of water, waves, seagulls overhead, and sand to bring you back to a place of peace. Even, if you are trying to prevent a toddler from gobbling sand and a tweener from drifting 50 yards while she body surfs.

Just a dip... please
I began coming to the Y again on a regular basis just at the end of February. I needed a place to unwind and have some alone and mommy time. Well I am now sitting here writing this post from the Y.
That first desperate day at the Y ended quickly and in tears... my son crying in the play center and me crying in the car after leaving the hot tub within 10 minutes of getting in (tip- don't try the pool or hot tub on your first try). I was so stressed, tired, and overwhelmed all I could do was take him to the car and sit for 5 minutes with tears streaming down my face, not able to see, not wanting to go back into that house. I finally cranked the car, wiped the tears from my eyes and drove the long drive home. Today is better. My dear son is finally adjusting to others caring for him, I am less stressed, but I still want to get in the darned hot tub and today it's broken. Aargh! Can a momma just take a dip? Please???

A Moment for My Mom
This evening while watching ACM Awards and unloading the dishwasher I started thinking of my mom. Sometimes I just think about how much of a superwoman she was and is.
I still wonder HOW she did everything she did. I know necessity is the mother of invention - it must be the mother of ingenuity and strength as well.
How do you honor the woman who sacrificed so much to make sure her children could have a good life? Who showed that you could be a mother and still have a life that wasn't just about being a mother? Who despite not being able to live out her own dreams, always encouraged us to dream and to go after those dreams? She was breadwinner, cheerleader, taxi, teacher, singer, writer, bringer of the laughter and the discipline, and pretty to boot!
Growing up, my mom was truly the wind beneath my wings and today when I am tired, weary, cranky, afraid of success or afraid of failure, I think of her, her fortitude, and her belief in me. She showed that if you want something and are willing to work for it, you can do it.
Mom, you are one of a kind and I wouldn't be the woman I am without you.
You are adored mom.
And yes, Mother's Day is a whole month away....
